Teaching Evaluations

Teaching and education are critical missions of the Yale School of Medicine. Target audiences can be at Yale (students, trainees, colleagues, etc) and beyond (courses, conferences, etc).

The evaluations that our trainees complete can provide invaluable feedback that faculty should use to guide their development. Just as feedback to trainees is used to help them, feedback to faculty should be used in a similar fashion. Evaluations should be reviewed regularly and attention paid to suggested areas for improvement.

Medhub is the platform used for teaching evaluations in the clerkships, electives and subinternships. Information is gathered from trainees about the clerkships, electives, and subinternships and the preceptors. To access your evaluations:

1. Log in Medhub, enter your NetID and Password (Authenticate via Duo Push, if needed).
2. Under the index page, select the grey tab “Evaluations” along the top bar.
3. Click on “Aggregate Evaluations” under the sub-bar. Aggregated scoring and comments can be reviewed there.

BlueDogs is the platform used for teaching evaluations in the pre-clerkship setting. Information is gathered from trainees about the course and the faculty who taught the course. To access your evaluations:

1. Log into BlueDogs, click on the button "Click here to log in through Yale Single Sign-On”.
2. Enter your NetID and Password Authenticate via Duo Push.
3. After logging in, you should be on the calendar page. In the upper right corner, click on your profile photo, which will open a drop-down menu.
4. In the drop-down menu, click on My Portrait.

To retrieve evaluations from the 2024-25 academic year and after:

• In the vertical menu to the left of your profile photo, click on Evaluations.
• Click on “Evaluations of Me by Others” to open the folder that includes all evaluations from the 2024-25 academic year and after.
• Click on the name of the hyperlink in the “Eval Title” column to view the evaluation.
• Once in the evaluation, scroll down the page to read the comments.
• Click on the settings gear icon (above comments on the right side of the grey bar) to print a report in PDF format.

To retrieve evaluations from the academic year 2023-24 and before:

• Once in the My Portrait page, click on the Documents link on the left, vertical menu.
• The page that opens will have links to your course feedback organized by academic year.
• Click on each link to download a report in PDF format.
